Despite being human, Michael is also a Chaos Vessel; a body capable of housing the chaotic Primordial Sea, just as gods, demigods, and other supernatural entities are capable of doing.
When in use, it does so based on the individual, and in Michael's case his eyes, peekaboo, and bangs turn blue/bluish. Michael himself does not have much control over chaos though, as such it only activates in times of extreme stress or emotion, whether it be a highly emotional argument, frustrating game, or a feeling of peril.
